INNOVATION FOR CHANGE AFRICA HUB
Innovation for Change (I4C) Africa Hub is a global network that strengthens the capacity of civil society through promoting home-grown solutions. I4C Africa Hub focuses on mitigating three existential threats to civic action, namely:
- A decline in traditional financial resources available to Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), particularly for advocacy work;
- A shrinking civic space; and
- The COVID-19 pandemic, which has led to further restrictions on civic space and a redirection of budgetary resources to address the health and economic crisis.
With a spotlight on Financial Sustainability, the I4C Africa Hub has been exploring alternative Resource Mobilization strategies, and is currently investigating the opportunities afforded by 'Sharing-Economy' approaches. The goal is to set up an online platform for services and resources (financial, technical or material) to be offered and accessed by CSOs within the I4C network as well as by other stakeholders (service providers, donors, etc.) who wish to engage with and support civic action through the Sharing Economy approach.
Launched in 2018, the We-Account SIC aims to encourage the engagement and participation of people and organizations.
The I4C Africa Hub held its first Africa Innovation Festival from 15 November to 3 December 2021.
