Launched in 2018, the We-Account Social Innovation Challenge (SIC) encourages the engagement and participation of people and organizations to work together across the region and co-create innovative solutions to solve a particular challenge and bring about social change.
In 2021, Innovation for Change (I4C) Africa Hub announced the 2020/2021 Winners with brilliant ideas around the three (3) key thematic areas of Government Accountability & Transparency, Supporting Marginalized & Vulnerable Communities, and Community Rights & Resilience in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, arguably the greatest challenge facing the continent and world to date.
Youth organizations, CSOs, cooperatives, community and people’s organizations, as well as social enterprises across the region were encouraged to find and scale-up innovative solutions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. These solutions were either technology related, policy relevant, or related to research or advocacy and could produce long-term change for the continent.
